Surprisingly awesome
Elixir has been on my TBR list since it came out…five years ago (late much, Tarynn? I know, I know). The thing is, I’m a fan of Hilary Duff’s music and movies, and I was terrified of not liking this book. Thankfully, that was not the case at all. I should’ve read this sooner because it was amazing!I enjoyed this right from page 1. It usually takes me a while to get into a book, so it’s always awesome when I can get swept away so fast. The mystery of it starts pretty quickly and the intrigue never let up. There were times when I was honestly scared because of the weirdness happening. Only a few books have literally made me jump in my seat and this is one of them.I loved every single one of the characters. Clea was down-to-earth and intelligent. She seemed like a real person to me, not just a caricature of ‘heroine.’ She was definitely someone I’d want to be friends with. Rayna was a perfect best friend for her. Also smart, but more of a dreamer, which I think Clea needed in her life. They complimented each other well and I really liked their banter. Now the guys. Ben was interesting. At first I didn’t really understand his purpose. What did her parents say they hired him for? It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me until the real reason was revealed. He was still cool though and with his obsession with mythology, I could see myself having some fun conversations with him. Sage is the character I’m left with the most questions about. He seems awesome and I liked his relationship with Clea, but I don’t feel like I know much about him as an individual. What are his interests besides being with Clea and painting Clea? I hope we get to find out more about him in the next books.Piri was a fun side character. She brought a lot of laughs with her unusual superstitions. I’m curious if any are going to be worked into the story and made real. This book was fantastic and completely addicting. I highly recommend it if you haven’t already read it and can’t wait to start the next! 5/5

Baroness' Book Trove Review of Elixir
Wow all I have to say is that this book is awesome and a great read. I have to admit Hilary Duff is a pretty good writer. I felt like I was actually a part of Clea’s life throughout this whole book. The story that Hilary crafted with the help of Elise Allen is mesmerizing.Clea is a talented photojournalist. I felt sad for Clea whenever she talked about her dad. You can so see that Clea wants to be close to her mom but that she was closer to being a dad’s girl. This is especially noticeable in the way that she looks for what truly happened to her dad. She doesn't really have that super close connection to either of her parents with them being gone most of the time. She is close to Rayna, her best friend, because they are both born on the same day and they live together on the same property that her parents own. The two are so close that they can tell when the other is lying to the other or when the other is upset. Rayna is the one that pushed her to follow her feelings between Ben, a guy that is a friend/bodyguard-type of person that her parents hired for her photojournalist trips, and the one that has been showing up in Clea's pictures. Clea is a pretty stubborn person when it comes to certain parts of her life such as her photojournalist assignments, to getting her pictures taken, to her love life, and of course about her dad.I am glad that I read this book finally (as it has been on my to read shelf for a while), to me it is worth ten butterflies as a rating, if I had a rating like that, but five butterflies rating works. If anyone asked me about this book for a recommendation I would tell them that the book was awesome and that they should give the book a try.Anyways until next time enjoy this book review brought to you byBaroness’ Book Trove. To read my other book reviews please go to my blog site: baronessbooktrove.com

Amazing!
When i first heard Hilary Duff had a book coming out i was skeptical as to whether or not to check it out. But curiosity got the best of me & i looked it up & read the first chapter on the publishers site. All i could say was WOW.Having been a fan of Hilary since Casper Meets Wendy & Lizzie McGuire, i already knew i loved her as an actress & singer & i can now say that i love her as a writer as well!. This book had my attention from the first page. I can't wait until the second one is released.I think it was wonderfully written & based off of a pretty original idea (the names of Sage & Clea are my favorite). Ofcourse it isn't going to be 100% original because, let's face it, with all the different books there are out there it doesn't leave much space for originality. However, i've never come across a book like this before, and i think it was put together perfectly. It's safe to say i devoured this book quickly. :).Being 21 i still love reading YA books over anything else because they're so much easier to get lost in to the point where you can just picture everything your reading as if it were right in front of you, & that's exactly what reading this has done.I congratulate Hilary Duff on this amazing book & absolutely hope that we get the next one out asap!Take my advice..BUY THIS! If you're a fan of paranormal stories with a bit of romance, & mystery thrown in there you won't regret this purchase! :)
