Not as advertised - only 10x
I was quite disappointed in this product. First off, it is NOT 40x as advertised. I put it up next to my 10x50 binoculars and found the magnification to be about the same, perhaps slightly less. So they should change the ad to say "10x60". I did find the remote very useful so I am keeping the product just to have something for my phone. It is rather difficult to align the phone lens with the eyepiece and clamp it. I found that adding a 1/4" washer between the clamp screw and the bracket helps keep it from moving as you tight the screw. So you get what you pay for. Pay little, get little.Update - now that I have used this a bit I would like to lower my rating to 1/2 star. I find the optics to be very poor. The center 1/3 of an image can be put in focus but then the outer 2/3 is not in focus and distorted. These are only good for spotting small targets. The effect is not very noticeable on phones because you have to zoom in to fill the phone screen and so you are only using the central 1/3 of the lens. Having used telescopes, binocular and cameras for many years I can tell good quality from poor quality optics.
