There really is no point buying this - take a look at the other reviews - my first one came with a smashed gear mechanism. The replacement lasted about 6 outings and then the drive shaft snapped in half. Garden Machinery say that because my issue is a warranty issue that it is down to the manufacturer EP Barrus - they say its down to Garden Machinery!! Either way they both say that because the shaft has corroded the warranty is invalid!! This is despite the mention of corrosion proof parts etc. I've cleaned it and kept it dry - I'm told that if I had that the shaft would look like "new" - have these people ever used fertilizer? Honestly just don't bother - I'm having to take it further and still have no way of spreading my fertilizer.

First off, the way Agri-fab packed this product is horrible. Other than a couple of pieces of cardboard around the main frame, everything was in shambles when I received it. The spreader plate was busted in 3 sections, and the inside of the bucket was gouged and marred. For $369.00 I would have expected better packaging. One call to Agri-fab, and they sent me a new spreader plate. Also, the instructions do not show the 3/8 lock nut and washer (and was not included) that attaches the draw bar to the frame. The bolt is already in place under the gear box from the factory, but no lock nut and washer to fasten it down. The spreader does appear to be well built, and the hopper door operates properly, as it should. We’ll see in time, how it holds up.

Unit is well made, but, poorly packed. Broken parts due to movement of parts in box.Called Ag-Fab, they immediately shipped broken parts. Slight annoyance, but good product, and customer service.

I purchased this spreader on May 31st and received it on June 5th. Upon opening the box I immediately noticed the spreader driver rod was obviously bent. It appeared that when it was boxed, the person just threw the wheels in the box and bent the rod. I've made several attempts to ask Agra Fab to send me a new rod and they have yet to respond or send a replacement part. Today, August 16th, I still have the spreader that won't spread anything. Basically, I have a very nice $393.48 pull behind garden cart that sits in the container and has yet to been hooked to my mower. I still use a hand spreader and a wagon to pull the bags of fertilizer around. I just need a replacement rod and I can put it to use this late summer and fall. Other that this issue, the unit is a very nice sturdy unit that could work very well if I Agri Fab would send me the part.

The reviews for this had numerous people complaining that the hatch door at the base of the feeder wouldn't close all they way, and seed/fertilizer would still fall out even if the handle was in the off position. Now I'm reasonably handy, have tools and work in the trades so maybe that made this easier for me. This item came fairly quick for free shipping and assembly was a breeze. All the hardware was there and instructions had decent pictures to cross reference. Once I got the whole thing together and back upright from putting the tires on I moved the handle forward to close the feeder. And just like everyone said it would not close all the way. I looked at if for about 2 seconds and said DUH!!!. The two screws that hold the handle assembly together are not going through perfect holes. The holes are about an 1" or so long. They are adjustable and so I loosened two bolts and put the handle in the closed position while applying a little pressure the hatch door closed all the way. I tightened the bolts back up and the unit works like a dream. So once again don't believe what you read sometimes because you don't know what type of person is putting these units together. Hope this helps someone.
