Hard wired on-ear earphones - great for comms on a laptop/pc
I like these on-ear earphones - not because they have the greatest sound reproduction when playing music but because they are very good for conversations and meetings on my laptop. They are lightweight, easy to adjust and sit very comfortably on my head. They are controlled by a good size inline controller that makes the buttons easy to find and easy to use.I've found that the built in noise control in the microphone filters out background sounds quite well so I don't need to make sure everything is totally quiet around me.They come supplied with a USBA to USBC adapter so you can so I can also use them on my tablet which only has USBC ports as well as potentially on my phone.Whilst they are not Bose or B +W i do think they are good quality especially considering the £20 price tag (Aug 2024).

OK; a bit overpriced
The sound quality on these is, much like the build quality, is decidely "OK". It's all digital since it connects via USB, and this helps quite a bit in terms of what you can do with the signal via apps etc. The build quality is a little on the "plasticky" side of things, although this does make them light. Once plugged in, Windows simply detects them as speakers/headphones and allows you to choose them - mine immediately switched to them. The remote control allows you to mute them (they fade out rather pleasingly rather than just immediately cutting out), mute the microphone, or adjust the volume. Slightly annoyingly for me was a blinking blue light that you can't switch off; it tells you they're the active audio device. Despite their lightness, I didn't feel they were very comfortable - admittedly I've just had a haircut, but they kinda pressed down on the top of my head, and the earphones pressed in on my ears. For the price, I think these are OK, but nothing more, and I'd be confident you could do much better for the same kind of money.

Straightforward USB headset
A big plus of USB based headsets over say Bluetooth is that you basically just plug them in - and you're ready to go. Assuming of course the intended source has (in this case) a free USB-A port. This saves having to work out how to connect something (Bluetooth) - which varies from "simple, I do it all the time" to "I swear this laptop doesn't even have Bluetooth". The latter of which may well be true. These are comfortable to use - though, like pretty much all "on ear" headphones I do find that things can get a little sweaty during long sessions. I mostly use them with Teams calls in the office - where hearing just my side of a conversation is the most anyone around me should have to bear. For this purpose they are good - though I often find it a little disconcerting to not really be able to hear my own voice (muffled as it is by the headphones). It would be brilliant to be able to hear yourself as part of the audio - I think this is known as "sidetone" - but I don't believe Teams supports it - and I think only some (probably more costly) headphones do directly. The headphones come with "in line" controls - for volume up/down, mute/unmute microphone, mute/unmute speakers. Using with Teams, with the exception of the mute microphone button all work fine - I need to experiment perhaps with microphone mute as it seems like it should work okay. All in all - good basic wired headset for a reasonable price.
