Car Stereo with Bluetooth, PLZ Universal In-Dash Single Din Car Radio Receiver, MP3 Player USB/SD Card/AUX/FM Radio with Remote Control/Wiring Harness for Ford/Lincoln/Mazda 1998-Up

This review is for the gm specific stereo.I installed this in my 98 Yukon, it literally is plug & play. Though gm stereo is bigger, and a din kit is required for a clean installFader and balance is correct, It is loud & clear. Even when listening to podcasts and audiobooks, in a rainstorm on the highway, dont have to turn it up more than half way. The interface is simple and easy to use, the next/previous track buttons are elevated making it easy to skip tracks without taking eyes off the road. Has +10/next folder on the same button.Radio isn't as good as factory. But I got it for mp3sBe sure to check your lights and 4wd before driving off, as you have to unplug the light switch to get the old radio out, and the wires on the 4wd selector could come loose from the harness if you push things around too much.Bluetooth call quality: terrible. You can hear the other person clearly, but since the stereo is in the dash, and the mic is in it, you have to lean past the steering wheel & shout to talk to them clearly. Bluetooth audio is great. Pairs up to the 3 phones I've tried. The android 6 applies the dolby eq settings to the output, and it gives good bass. Can skip 1 track at a time within the playlist. Some Bluetooth noise, but you only hear it if the engine is off. Also, if you hit the call button on the stereo, it will just call a random contact, no menu to select from.USB/SD. My music collection is 99% mp3 and it plays good & clear. This unit lacks the up sampling of higher end units, so 128kbps files have that glitchy old mp3 sound, whereas some devices improve it significantly. Good 320kbps recordings sound good through this, bad recordings sound bad. This also plays wav filesThe digital media reader doesn't work while it is under freezing temps if the radio is above freezing, it works well. I have 2000+ files on each 16GB drive, and it plays all of them.So, I recommend this Plz unit. Also, if you have a Subaru or whatever, search "Iso subaru stereo harness". Then you don't have to splice wires. Spliced wires account for 90% of stereo problems. I don't recommend using the 20awg aluminum universal wiring harness that comes with these things. The gm specific harness appears to be much better copper wires. This stereo has a 15amp fuse.These digital only stereos are not deep like a CD player, and they are lite weight because they don't have mechanical devices, and class D amplifiers are small with high efficiency, so they don't need giant heavy heat sinks. The sound is good, but lacks some of the analog whatever of the old delco unit, and can't turn up the bass as much.I paid about $25 for this and feel like its a good deal. But if you want a carphone, get something with external mic that can dial & display specific numbers.

Well... you could say I have learned my lesson about cheap stereos.This is a good choice if you're installing it into a vehicle that you're going to drive off a cliff. Even if you're building an entry level system, this doesn't even rise to that level.After working for a few weeks, it began getting interference in the form of cutting out intermittently. Sometimes regular intervals, sometimes irregular, and sometimes rapid-fire. If it was just the SD card mode, I would think it was the media... but it occurred in Bluetooth mode as well where there are no "moving parts" involved. As I began considering wiring issues, that problem became irrelevant due to the SD card retaining mechanism completely breaking... first not allowing a card to fit inside, and then causing the cards to not stay in place. So being just after the return cutoff.... of course... this stereo simply went in the trash, and my old JVC went back in the console.There are entry-level receivers that are good enough to keep even after upgrading everything else. This certainly isn't one of them. Spend a few more bucks on a Sony, JVC, Pioneer, or even Boss.

Where should I start? Problem 1) The stereo did not fit into the Metra DIN kit properly. It's hard to tell if the stereo was out of spec or if the DIN kit was out of spec.... a little trimming and I was able to satisfactorily make the two mesh. Problem 2) I pulled out my old stereo and attempted to fit up the UNIVERSAL GM wiring harness to my 2005 Chevy Cavalier harness. Go figure, they didn't match. One of the main reasons I bought this stereo was because it included EVERYTHING I needed to fit up a 88-2005 GM vehicle. This was not accurate. So, in an effort to get some music into my vehicle, I cut my factory harness and installed the alternate harness. Problem 3) The right rear speaker did not work after installation. I swapped wiring around to troubleshoot and the stereo is not outputting on that channel. Problem 4) Equalizer function is pretty useless. All options have terrible sound quality with the exception of "POP." Problem 5) I'm in a very populated area with dozens of FM stations. I usually have good reception on most of these stations up to 50 miles from my home area. This stereo could not maintain reception on many of these stations. Actually only 1 or 2 come in clear. Overall I'm extremely dissatisfied with this stereo. I should have known by the price that it was too good to be true. I really just wanted a simple stereo that had decent sound quality, Bluetooth enabled, and could pick up radio stations. This failed in all aspects.

The bluetooth is easy to connect and works flawlessly.The antenna range for radio is poor like everyone else says.The buttons have a good feeling click when you push themThe ford harness didnt work in my 97 f150 xlt, but thats fine because it also came with the nubs to wire your own harness to it.

Does not fit model from the early 2000's. 90's only #lights flicker but hey it's worth the price I guess

This stereo sucks to the fullest. I bought in February and it's totally dead (no power) 3 months later.

piece of crap, installed the radio, worked for two days then it shut off, took it all apart checked wiring tried again - nothing
