Himalayan ChefHimalayan Salt, Fine Glass Shaker, 17.5 Oz

I am buying this kind of salt for many years but never purchased it in a large plastic container like this one. I mostly purchased it in smaller glass jars or couple times in plastic bag. This time I decided to save somewhat and bought a large plastic container of this otherwise good quality salt. Opened container and immediately noticed absolutely awful very strong chemical smell. The salt itself also smelled the same (very strong smell), it absorbed all this smell from the container. It looks that plastic container is made of poor quality plastics and releases chemicals into the salt. I do recommend Himalayan Chef Natural Pink Salt in glass jars, but not in this particular plastic container.

Happy with everything, BUT the smell from the jar once I opened to see if mine had a terrible smell as I read from the comments here and mine did also. Never ever have I had any of the Pink Himalayan Sea Salt I have bought last couple years never had this kind of smell once opened. The taste is good, but that smell is horrid once you open up the jar and take the sealed cover off it and it almost knocks you down it smells so bad. Not sure if it’s from the plastic jar or what, but lesson learned. Will never buy this again from this seller. Will pay more for better as thought this was after researching brands! Beware if you buy this!!!!

This is NOT pure himalayan salt! It is cut with something. Pure salt will dissolve in liquids. I don't appreciate feeling like I'm chewing on glass or sand in my dinner, to remove an itty bitty fake salt kernal. It for snotndisssolve completely in water, either. DO NOT BUY.

I bought two of these to stock my pantry shelf. I was still using a container from Costco and only recently opened one of these containers. Upon opening I was blasted with a horrible smoky, plastic smell. Unfortunately, I opened the container AFTER the return date past. So I am stuck with one, if not two, smelly containers of salt. The salt itself tastes fine, but it does smell bad. I would not recommend this product based on this experience.

I have been using pink Himalayan salt for years and ran out when I was in a remote location. Thus the order from Amazon. I opened the container and the smell almost knocked me off my feet. It was horrible. It was the most chemical plastic smell I ever experienced. I could barely get passed it to taste the salt. The flavor seemed fine, but the smell was putrid. So I emptied the entire amount in different containers that I had and I can already tell the smell is dissipating but still not gone. Interestingly, the lid did not smell at all. As I threw out the container, I could smell it without even getting near it, that's how strong it is.Right now the containers are sitting on my counter, open, to let out the residual smell out. If it doesn'e smell normal by tomorrow, I will return it.

I really hesitated to buy this salt because of the reviews I read. I should have listened to my gut. This salt ( if it is salt) looks white. There is nothing pink about it that I can see. The bottle is also very tiny, although the picture makes you think its bigger then what it is. Its maybe 3 inches tall with a plastic lid. The lid on mine was loose with the contents falling out when I opened it. I just dont trust what I got, I will be returning it.

I've always had an issue with salt. it was always.. too salty. (Does that make any sense?)Even when I would add a pinch of regular table salt or sea salt to something, it would end up being almost too salty to eat.Then I heard about Himalayan Pink Salt - it supposedly had a milder saltiness.So I just went on Amazon and ordered the most convenient looking bottle that didn't have too much salt (just in case I hated it) - which was this one.I LOVE this. This has just the perfect amount of saltiness for me.I also dip my strawberries and tomatoes in salt instead of sugar and this salt goes perfectly with them.I'll probably end up ordering more of this since I'm already 1/3 through the bottle. <3

This is something new for me as I'm exploring the health benefits with this salt. I'm impressed with the size of this 5lbs is perfect for not only replacing my table salt but will be adding to my soaps for hair, skin , nails & hope to notice any benefits soon. The only thing I didn't notice is this says Fine & the pic kinda looked like the grains were bigger like you find in those expensive scrubs but I'm going to try this for this price anyways. I like how I could use Ebt to pay for it too which helps.
