I finally can solder! It turns out I never had the tip of my iron tinned correctly. I had tried various irons over the years and could never solder a decent joint. I didn't realize the importance of a perfectly clean, perfectly tinned iron. After some research I decided to try this tip tinning compound. Works like a charm! Now that my iron is tinned, I have been able to solder wires without burning the insulation off. To keep the iron clean, I just wipe it on a wet sponge during and after use and it is ready for next time! So glad I finally tried this!!!

Product worked as described. It is a powder so that you can gently dip/roll your soldering iron tip in it to either tin or re-tin the tip. Tinning will “extend the tip's lifespan, prevent oxidation, and improve heat transfer, allowing for smoother and more efficient soldering”. FYI: the double sided tape meant for taping it to your work station is hidden inside the powder, so you’d want to remove it before you put your hot soldering iron tip in it. Highly recommend!
